The 7Semi MLX90640 Thermal Camera IR Array Breakout is a compact and powerful thermal imaging module designed for non-contact temperature measurement and real-time thermal analysis. Powered by the Melexis MLX90640 infrared sensor, the module features a 32 × 24 pixel thermal array capable of generating 768 independent temperature measurement points. Its wide 110° × 75° field of view allows large areas to be monitored without requiring mechanical movement or multiple sensors.

Designed for industrial monitoring, predictive maintenance, smart building systems, robotics, research projects, and embedded thermal sensing applications, the MLX90640 delivers accurate temperature measurements from -40°C to +300°C. The sensor is factory calibrated and provides reliable thermal data with a typical accuracy of ±2°C. Integrated ambient temperature sensing and supply voltage monitoring further improve measurement reliability across varying operating conditions.

The module communicates through a standard I²C interface, enabling seamless integration with Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, RP2040, and other development platforms. Low power consumption of less than 23mA makes it suitable for portable and battery-powered applications, while programmable refresh rates from 0.5Hz to 64Hz provide flexibility for both low-power monitoring and real-time thermal imaging systems.
