7Semi MCP23017 I2C to 16 IO Expander Breakout

The 7Semi MCP23017 I²C 16-Bit I/O Expander Breakout provides a simple way to add additional digital I/O capability to microcontrollers and embedded systems using a two-wire I²C interface. It provides 16 GPIOs organized into two 8-bit ports, allowing flexible control and monitoring of external digital devices.

The module supports 3.3 V and 5 V systems and provides hardware-selectable I²C addressing, allowing up to eight devices on a single I²C bus for expansion of up to 128 GPIOs. Dedicated INTA and INTB interrupt outputs enable efficient event-driven operation without continuously polling the GPIO states.

With configurable digital I/O functionality, interrupt support, and a compact breakout design, the module is suitable for switches, buttons, LEDs, relays, digital sensors, control panels, automation systems, robotics, and general-purpose embedded I/O expansion.
