The 7Semi 3.3V 2A Mini Buck Converter Breakout features the AP61201 synchronous buck converter, delivering a stable 3.3V output at up to 2A from a 5V to 5.5V input range. Its compact design and high efficiency make it ideal for powering low-voltage devices in space-constrained applications.

Key Features:

  • Wide Input Voltage Range:
Compatible with input voltages from 5V to 7V, ensuring flexibility for different power sources.
  • Stable Output Voltage:
Provides a fixed 3.3V output, perfect for sensitive electronic components that demand consistent voltage.
  • High Output Current:
Supports 2A continuous output current, catering to power-hungry devices and ensuring reliable performance.
  • Efficient Operation Mode:
Employs Force Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) for efficient power conversion and minimal energy loss.

Protection Features

The AP61200/AP61201/AP61202/AP61203 integrates comprehensive protection features, including Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO), Input Overvoltage Protection (VIN OVP), cycle-by-cycle Peak and Valley Current Limiting, Hiccup-Mode Overcurrent Protection, and Thermal Shutdown.

  • Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO): Disables the converter when the input voltage falls below 1.84 V, protecting the device from insufficient supply voltage.
  • Input Overvoltage Protection (VIN OVP): Disables the converter when the input voltage exceeds 6.3 V to prevent damage from excessive input voltage.
  • Valley Current Limit: Monitors current through the low-side MOSFET on every switching cycle and temporarily stops switching when excessive current is detected.
  • Peak Current Limit: Monitors the high-side MOSFET current cycle by cycle to provide additional protection against overload and short-circuit conditions.
  • Hiccup-Mode Protection: If the valley current limit continues for approximately 0.6 ms, the converter shuts down for 3.4 ms before attempting an automatic restart, reducing power dissipation during persistent overloads.
  • Thermal Shutdown: Shuts down the converter and activates output discharge when the junction temperature reaches approximately +160 °C. Normal operation automatically resumes when the temperature falls to approximately +130 °C.
