About this product

The 7Semi 1.8V 2A Mini Buck Converter Breakout integrates the AP61201 synchronous buck converter, delivering a fixed 1.8V output at up to 2A continuous current from a 2.3V to 5.5V input range. Its compact design and high efficiency make it ideal for precise power management in various applications.

Key Features:

  • Wide Input Voltage Range: Compatible with 4V to 7V, ensuring versatility across multiple devices and applications.
  • Stable Output Voltage: Delivers a fixed 1.8V output, ideal for sensitive electronic components.
  • High Current Capacity: Provides 2A continuous output current, supporting demanding power requirements.
  • Efficient Operation Mode: Utilizes Force Pulse Width Modulation for improved efficiency and reduced power loss.

Protection features

Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO) & Input Overvoltage Protection (OVP)

The AP61200 series automatically shuts down if the input voltage falls below 1.84 V or rises above 6.3 V, protecting the IC from unsafe operating conditions. During shutdown, both internal MOSFETs turn OFF and the built-in 1 kΩ active discharge quickly discharges the output voltage to ground.

Overcurrent Protection (OCP)

The AP61200 series continuously monitors the output current and automatically limits excessive current to protect the device. During a prolonged overload or short circuit, it enters Hiccup Mode, periodically restarting until the fault is removed.

Thermal Shutdown (TSD)

The AP61200 series includes built-in thermal protection that automatically shuts down the converter if the junction temperature reaches approximately 160°C, preventing overheating and damage. Once the temperature drops to around 130°C, the device automatically restarts with a soft-start sequence.

Valley Current Limit (VCL)

Continuously monitors the inductor current and instantly limits excessive current during overload or short-circuit conditions, ensuring reliable operation and protecting both the converter and the connected load.
