The BME688 is a 4-in-1 environmental sensor that combines temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and gas sensing in a compact device. Its gas sensor can detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other gases, while the integrated temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors provide additional environmental data. The sensor supports both I²C and SPI interfaces, making it suitable for a wide range of embedded and IoT applications.
In addition to the functions of the BME680, the BME688 adds application-specific gas scanning and AI-based gas classification capabilities through Bosch's BME AI-Studio. This allows developers to collect gas-sensor data and develop application-specific detection models. The BME688 can be used in applications such as indoor air-quality monitoring, smart-home systems, environmental monitoring, and gas-sensing projects
